Stuck at home book tag

I haven’t actually been tagged to do this tag, but it’s so relevant to right now and looked like fun so I thought I would give it a go. Because of this, I’m not tagging anyone but if you read it and would like to give it a go – then go for it!

What are you currently reading?

Am I normal yet? by Holly Bourne
I’m actually really enjoying this, Holly has got such a great way of setting up a character’s personality and voice through her writing. I think I’m about halfway through now, and the story is getting really interesting – I just want the best for Evie!

What’s your favourite can’t leave the house activity?

This is probably really typical, but it’s going to have to be staying in and watching netflix or amazon prime. At the moment I am making my way through Criminal Minds, and I am really liking it. It can be really creepy and disturbing at times, but it’s also a deeply interesting insight into people’s minds.

A book I’ve meaning to read forever

The Night Circus, by Erin Morgenstern
This has been on my list for ages! I know that I will love it and it will definitely be my type of book, but for whatever reason I just haven’t bought it yet. I really want to treat myself to it at some point, I just hope it lives up to the hype I’ve given it!

An intimidating book on my TBR

Girl, Woman, Other, by Bernardine Evaristo
This book just holds so much power and acclaim within its pages, that I desperately want to read it – but it’s also just so intimidating and imposing on my bookcase. I will get around to it soon, and I know that it’ll be amazing, but I also know I need to have full and undivided attention for it.

Top 3 priority books on your TBR

Girl, woman, other, by Bernardine Evaristo
A heart so fierce and broken, by Brigid Kemmerer
The handmaid’s tale, by Margaret Atwood

Probably seems like a bit of a weird mix! But they’re all books that for some reason or other, I’ve really been looking forward to reading. AHSFAB is the dream sequel I have been waiting for for ages, I cannot wait to get around to it!! And of course, The Handmaid’s Tale is a classic and I can’t believe that I’ve never read it.

Recommend a short book

Mathilda, by Mary Shelley
It was a really interesting little read, and I think it’s a big surprise to people that she wrote this! It’s creepy and has some deep hidden meanings, but it made me fall in love with her mind and her writing.

Recommend a long book

Kingsbane, by Claire Legrand
The longest book I’ve read and actually, one of my favourite books as well! It has everything you need in it, the romance and danger, the magic and fantasy! I found it perfect in every respect and I just want everyone to be reading it.

Something you’d love to do while stuck at home

I really should be finishing unpacking the house and making plans to make my study/library in the second bedroom! I know the designs and colour scheme I want, I just need to make it happen. I’m hoping that I can get this accomplished over the summer!

What do you plan on reading next?

How hard can love be, by Holly Bourne
I need to finish off the Spinster Club trilogy before I can move on! I’m really enjoying her writing at the moment, and I’m moving through the books quite quickly.

Let me know if you do the tag!
-Personally, Emma
