With mental health awareness week coming to a close, I thought I’d look at my top ways of indulging in self-care. I know it’s become a popular fad lately, but that doesn’t take away from the fact that it’s incredibly important to look after yourself and have those interests.
Read a book
Clearly, this was always going to be one of my top ones. Personally, I think there’s nothing more relaxing than escaping into a book and just forgetting about all your troubles.
Anything that takes me away and encourages me to get creative, is a big yes from me.
This works the same as well, I like having something to focus on and work to make look right.
Simple, but effective. My skin is always looking for a bit of TLC, and it encourages me to sit back and relax.
I always like a good netflix binge watch! Again, it’s just nice to sit back and relax, and watch something.
Turn Phone Off
If I ever just need a breather and to calm down, I turn my phone off so I’m not endlessly scrolling through social media. It gives me the chance to focus on myself instead, like on my breathing.
Either that, or I just turn my music on and focus on that.
I have a really nice location about a 20 minute walk from home, so if it’s nice weather, it’s really nice to get out of the house.
They’re my go to when I need to talk to someone, even if I don’t want to talk about why I’m feeling down – I instantly feel better getting off the phone with them.
Recently, I’ve really gotten into baking and I’ve found that it’s so relaxing to get in the kitchen and whip something up if I need a break.
